What do we do?
Business services
We are looking to work with local companies to offer services in collating leaflets, envelope stuffing, packaging, and assembly work at our work shop in New Malden.
Current contracts include assembly of poppies for the Royal British Legion and packing for Arrow plastics as well as collating leaflets and envelopes for a number of local charities and business in Kingston.
Bike recycling
The bike recycling workshop is situated in unit 5 and open to Kingston Eco-op service users on Tuesdays and Fridays to recondition and repair dis-used bikes.
There are a maximum of 5 places on each day available. The workshop is linked with Kingston Cycle Campaign and the Royal Borough of Kingston's Travel Awareness Department. The session has skilled support from a trained bike mechanic for service users to learn about cycle repairs and maintenance.
Furniture repair
Our furniture repair workshop in unit 33 is linked to Kingston Voluntary Action's furniture project which sources items of furniture that are in need of reconditioning.
The workshop is open on Thursdays and is situated at the front of unit 33. There are a maximum of 5 places available.
Term time - The session is led by a tutor from Kingston College and an Eco-op support worker who will be teaching skills around woodcraft and carpentry. Service users will also be given a full induction on health and safety in using machinery and tools in the workshop.
Packaging
Our packaging workshop is in unit 4 and has contracts with a wide range of businesses and organisations which include The British Legion & Human Race Events.
The project has also developed a new innovative Snackbox social enterprise which delivers Fairtrade products to various offices in Kingston including Kingston's Guildhall complex, Kingston University and Kingston Voluntary Action.
This project is an ideal start for a person starting to think about work and wanting to get back into the routine of employment whilst also supporting social aspects of independent living.
Eco-op snackbox
The snackboxes are filled with a selection of Fairtrade products such as yoghurt coated raisins, double chocolate chunk cookies, fruit and nut mix and wafer bars.
We have recently added crisp boxes to our products with a UK based supplier, Piper Crisps, who believe strongly in supporting local farmers and guaranteeing high quality handcooked crisps in a delicious variety of flavours including Sea Salt & Indian Black Pepper and West Country Chedder and Onion.
